BON Hotels has celebrated the start of 2022 on a high note today (January 10), with the addition of two iconic hospitality establishments in St Lucia, KwaZulu Natal.
The two properties are St Lucia Lodge by BON Hotels and Elephant Lake Hotel by BON Hotels.
The group is working hard to place St Lucia as one of the top spots for South African domestic leisure travellers. It represents a part of Africa that is untouched and has unique wildlife experiences, thrilling activities and picturesque natural beauty.
“Previously the area has been popular among international group markets such as western Europe, Italy and Spain. Through this acquisition, our goal is to resuscitate those markets to get the business back to our two newest properties and promote further growth for BON Hotels in the northern regions of KwaZulu Natal,” said Pieter van Eck, Group Development Director.
The properties are great options for South African families who want to discover more of their country, and they currently offer excellent rates.
Elephant Lake is a full-service hotel with 58 rooms on the shores of the St Lucia Estuary surrounded by the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africa’s first Natural World Heritage Site. The park is famous for its hippos, crocodiles, pelicans and flamingos. The area is rich in birdlife and ideal for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The hotel is already well known for its exceptional service, friendly staff and its devotion to preserving the ecological state of the many attractions in the area.
All rooms face the estuary and have private terraces. The hotel accepts tour bookings, and it has a conference centre, plus a large swimming pool, kids’ entertainment area and on-site security. The Hippo Steakhouse restaurant is well-known and attracts local and international visitors to experience a taste of Africa. Room service is available from the restaurant.
A grand garden with more than 50 species of flora surrounds the hotel and a natural walkway from the estuary serves as a ‘catwalk’ for the celebrity hippo who often strolls through the hotel grounds. A popular spot is the viewing deck where guests can view the gorgeous African sunset.
Elephant Lake Hotel by BON Hotels is 50km from the Nyalazi Gate at the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park.
Just 100m down the road is the St Lucia Lodge by BON Hotels. This features 34 rooms and upmarket self-catering facilities, plus access to the beach. It is suitable for longer stays.
